The Breadstand Story
It started with a cup of coffee in Switzerland.
I didn't plan to start a coffee company. I’m a developer, not a barista. But 15 years ago, I took a trip to Switzerland that ruined me.
Everywhere I went—gas stations, hotels, homes—the coffee was incredible. It wasn't the bitter, burnt "diner coffee" I grew up with in America. It was rich, creamy, and smooth. I assumed they were using $20,000 commercial machines.
I was wrong. They were using Juras.
The Obsession
When I came back to the US, I couldn't drink the office sludge anymore. I hunted down a Jura machine. I was so obsessed that I used to hang out in Williams-Sonoma, watching customers walk past the Juras to buy "fancy" pod machines.
I would actually stop them. I’d say, "Don't buy that. Taste this." I didn't work there. I just couldn't stand seeing people spend money on bad coffee when the solution was right there.
Why Breadstand?
I realized most people think "Good Coffee" means "Starbucks" or "Nespresso."
Nespresso is easy, but it's stale (ground months ago).
Starbucks is consistent, but it's burnt (and expensive).
Jura is physics. It grinds fresh beans 3 seconds before it brews.
I started Breadstand for one reason: To help American families stop renting their coffee and start owning the factory.
We aren't a big corporation. We are a small team of obsessives who believe that Fresh is Better than Easy.
Welcome to the Swiss Standard.
